SiC tile systems on boiler water walls
On energy-from-waste boilers the water walls need protecting from heat, corrosion and erosion. We lay out, weld and install silicon-carbide tile systems on those walls, covering the anchor layout, the welding and the tile installation itself, and we supervise the work where another contractor provides the labour.
From 2020 to 2022 we carried out supervision, anchor layout, welding and installation of silicon-carbide tile protection for Zampell at energy-from-waste plants in Jersey, Coventry, Ipswich and Teesside. Our work for Zampell has also included refractory and SiC tile work at SUEZ Teesside and at Riverside, Belvedere.
Incinerators and thermal oxidisers
We install and repair ceramic-fibre and castable linings for incinerators and thermal oxidisers, including partial relines. A partial reline is often the right answer: it keeps the sound lining and replaces only what has failed.
That was the approach on a thermal oxidiser in Erith, Kent, in May 2026. The lower ceramic-fibre lining had failed and a liquid sample from the unit measured pH 1. We neutralised and stripped out the failed lower section, kept the sound fibre above, and relined the lower section, around half the lining, with 1260-grade ceramic modules. The full case study is on our projects page.
Waste heat and biomass boilers
In 2021 we carried out repairs and relining of a waste heat boiler and a standby boiler for ADM at Purfleet. From 2017 to 2019 we carried out refractory removal and replacement at the Pinnacle Power biomass plant in Nottingham.
