What we do on kilns

We install brick and castable linings for rotary cement kilns, preheaters, coolers and lime kilns. On a kiln the programme is everything: the plant is losing production every day the kiln is down, so the reline has to be planned before the stop and run to that plan once the crew is on site.

A complete kiln reline in Moldova

In January 2021 we carried out a brick reline of a rotary cement kiln in Moldova, at short notice and in the middle of the pandemic. We mobilised an experienced crew of around 19 on a day rate to install the brickwork.

The client supplied the bricks and we supplied the bricklayers: the client controls the material, and we take responsibility for the installation and the crew.

Experience behind it

Ron Ramsell, our Managing Director, has more than 40 years in the trade. His career before RCSL included work for Qatar Cement, and he has run refractory crews of up to 110. Kiln brickwork uses the same disciplines as our refinery work: correct setting out, tight joints and close control of quality as the lining goes in.
